One of the things I did while my computer was out of commission was read a bunch of doujinshi (I got a shipment from my Japanese dealer a couple of days after it broke down -- nice timing for once). Anyway, wanted to share some stuff!
When fandoms collide... ( *~twirl~* )
...It ain't a pretty sight. But hey, nice Biellmann spin you got there, Josef!
Aaaaand some Josef/Caesar because... because I love those two way too much (PLUS THEY ARE AWESOME AND EVERY POST SHOULD INCLUDE THEM, AMIRITE?!). ( Karaoke! )
The usual disclaimer applies, i.e. please see these as samples only -- buy the real thing if you can and support the doujinshika.

My computer is kaputt. Well, no, that's not quite true -- rather, the fan on my motherboard is kaputt. But as it's more or less rendered my computer useless for over a month now, it's pretty much the same thing :\
This isn't the first time it's happened either. I emailed the manufacturers and complained the first time, and they sent me a replacement fan... that lasted for roughly a year. At first I tried to just ignore it, cause despite the extremely loud and stressful noise it produced the computer itself seemed to be fine. Then it apparently got even worse, cause SpeedFan suddenly reported a temperature of 80°C. CUE SHEER HEART ATTACK.
So today I biked down to the local computer shop, and asked if they by any chance had a similar fan they could sell me. They didn't, of course. So I instead asked for some of that sticky glue stuff (thermal compound? I forget what it's called) so that I could take off the fan and try to grease it up. And that's the point of this post, because:

That tiny little thing (my finger pictured for comparative purposes) cost me 80kr -- roughly 13 dollars. Talk about a goddamn rip-off!
Gah. Anyway, it seemed to have helped a little. It's not quite as loud, and I can have the computer turned on for an hour or two before the temperature starts getting too high for comfort. So it's obviously not a solution (which means it's yet another incentive to buy a new computer *panics just thinking about it*), but at least I'll be able to actually use the computer a little. So sorry for ignoring you guys lately, I'll be catching up ASAP!

Jesus Christ, WTF was up with this week's Gintama chapter?! XD
Here's some scans and a little wannabe-translation courtesy yours truly~
( spoilers, obviously )
I don't know about you, but I personally think that the above scene is one of the funniest things in Gintama history.
...Oh, and while I'm at it anyway, check this out: Hijikata and Gintoki bedsheets. I laughed so hard I cried when I first saw them! God help me, but I'm actually thinking about buying a set... just for the pure and utter hilariousness factor XD

The planned family get-together today ended up being canceled in the last minute, so I instead spent the afternoon digging through the attic looking for a comic that I'm mysteriously missing. I didn't find it, but I did stumble upon a bunch of my old Bravestarr VHS tapes.
You know, Bravestarr? The indian cowboy sheriff in outer space who fights crime with the help of his trusty steed bad-tempered partner; a cyborg-ish horse with some very human traits. Yeah, that Bravestarr.
Anyway. I watched some episodes, and... I... Uh. Maybe I've just gotten to the point where I see homoerotic subtext in everything (actually I think I reached that point years ago aahahahaaa), but DEAR GOD I DON'T REMEMBER IT BEING SO IN-YOUR-FACE GAY:

It's not just me, right? Right?!

I really envy Americans and their Halloween. Here in Sweden this time of year is utterly bleak and depressing -- I'd do anything for kids in costumes and some good candy right now, lemme tell ya.
The schedule for the day has been the exact same for as long as I've lived: Church early in the morning (only if someone you know has died during the year, though), visit the cemetaries and put flowers on all your loved ones' graves, and finally dinner at grandma's (and grandpa's, when he was still alive) home to reminisce about the dead. Add in the fact that the cemetary is always filled with dead leaves and all wet and dark with rain, and you've got yourself the saddest time of the year.
So yes, lucky Americans ;P
Anyway, this time of year usually has me listening to nothing but old progg Swedish music. Probably because it suits the overall mood so damn well, I suppose. I thought I'd upload one of my favorites, and translate the lyrics as well. So, uh, enjoy please?
( link + lyrics )
In other, semi-related news, I changed my layout. It's a very sad picture (well, it is if you know the context), but it definately suits this time of year and my mood and everything. And it's from Capcom's official JoJo art, which I'm pretty damn fond of.

Incase you haven't seen it yet, there's a new issue of Shousetsu Bang*Bang out! Horror is the theme this time, and lemme tell ya -- it's damn good stuff. I've only read the first five stories so far, but they've all been absolute top-notch. Seriously, go read! You won't regret it, I promise.
My offering this time is "Ored's Song", which especially goes out to all of you who are into old folklore. Don't feel forced to read it or anything, but do take a look in order to not miss amei's amazing art. Seriously, she perfectly captured the essence of everyone's favorite naked violinist (no, not Linda Lampenius dammit; Näcken!) water creature.

After pretty much non-stop playing since I got it, I just beat Crisis Core.
...There's really no words that I can say right now that would even begin to sum up how I feel.
I think that maybe the most cruel thing, was letting you control him in the ending fight against all those soldiers; giving you the insane idea that maybe -- just maybe -- he'd somehow make it. False hope, however implausible you deep down know it to be, is the worst.
After I had finished playing (and when the worst sobbing had subsided), I thought some fresh air might make me feel better, so I staggered outside only to find that it was raining there too. Nice timing, huh?
God, what a heartbreaker. I'll try to make a more coherent post later. Incase you're wondering, I was indeed going to talk about the game as I played through it. But, what can I say, it just utterly and completely took over my life. I literally haven't done anything these past few days besides play the game; only tearing myself away from it to do the bare necessities like eating or going to the bathroom.

| Crisis Core |
[19 Sep 2007|11:23pm] |
Today, "Crisis Core -Final Fantasy VII- FFVII 10th Anniversary Limited" finally arrived!

...Now, it was my intention to write up a long post about it -- both about the hassles in getting the damn thing (scalpers, and customs bullshit, and adapter confusion, oh my!) as well as my thoughts on the actual game so far -- but I'm just too beat. Staring intently at the PSP screen for five hours was probably not the wisest of ideas, no. So I'm off to bed, but there are a few things I just gotta get off my chest first:
01. Zack. 'Nuff said. 02. Angeal is a great character. I wasn't really expecting to like him all that much, but I've pretty much fallen head over heels for him. *points to icon* 03. Lazard = SO. VERY. GAY. 04. Sephiroth looks prettier than ever.
Oh and yeah, one question... Should I even bother posting screenshots along with future posts? As you can see above, the quality isn't exactly the best (I used my digital camera, incase you're wondering). The thing is, I've seen a lot of people lately with icons from what appears to be FMVs from Crisis Core, so for all I know someone has ripped it somehow and put it up for online viewing or some shit. I'm trying to avoid spoilers (which is kinda silly, all things considered), so I have no idea. And I assume everyone has seen what the limited edition contains by now? So there's no point in doing what I did when I got the AC package (namely this), right?

My daily horoscope in the newspaper said that I was bound to be very inspired and expressive today. Ahaha ha haaa... orz
This is pretty much how I feel right now:
( scan behind the cut )
...Just, ya know, replace "draw manga" with "write stories". And well, it's not really coming up with ideas that I'm having problems with, but rather the aspect of getting them written down in a satisfactory manner. But aside from that it's rather spot on.
Disclaimer: I read horoscopes for the lulz, I don't actually take them seriously or anything.

Coming home from work today, I opened the front door and went, "Hi guys, I'm home! Did you mi- OH MY GOD WHAT ARE THOSE BROWN STREAKS ON THE FLOOR."
Of course, I knew damn well what they were. Oliver, my persian cat, must've had diarrhea sometime during the day. Which meant that poop had gotten stuck in his long fur, that he'd then tried rubbing off on the floor. Back when I was still innocent and pure, I used to think that only dogs would wipe their asses like that. A~ah, how wrong I was -_-
Anyways, spent a lovely time cleaning up the mess and then washing his ass. He seems to be feeling okay though, and that's all that truly matters. He's currently sleeping on my bed, looking cute:

new SSBB issue, yay! |
] |
Two new issues of bb_shousetsu have just been put up; the regular BL issue, and the summer special (all girls, all the time). 43 stories, making for a total of 303 000 words. Wow, huh? My hat goes off to the editors, and everyone else involved.
Anyway, God knows I've pimped this community plenty of times before, but really; check it out if you haven't already. There's something for every taste, I assure you!
I actually have a story in the BL issue, but to tell the truth I'm feeling very love/hate about it... I really like my basic idea for the whole "dress me up; dress me down" theme, but the actual execution? Bad, just bad. There's in particular this one scene towards the middle of the story that basically screams "Oh look, I was too lazy to write out a couple of scenes that didn't matter to the plot, so I'm just gonna have some random guy sum them up by talking to the main character!" *hangs head in shame*
I would probably have abandoned the story if it weren't for the fact that I had already asked an artist to illustrate it. But she ended up having RL intervene though, so it doesn't even have the saving grace of her stylish art >_<
What's worse though, is the fact that I was working on a story for the girls' issue as well -- one that I truly felt happy about. But, thanks to work, I didn't manage to finish it in time. Oh well, there's always next year I suppose...
The Revenge is my story, if you for some morbid reason still want to read it. But take my advice and check out some of the other writers first. I've only had time to read a few of the stories from the special issue (haven't even touched the BL one yet), but it's all been top-notch so far!

At Vance - Money, Money, Money |
] |
Hullo everybuddy, I'm still alive! It just seems like mother nature and work has conspired to keep me away lately.
My schedule, let me show you it:
05.00: Wake up, get dressed. Walk the dog. Feed the cats, the dog, and the inside fishes. Eat a quick sandwich while skimming through the newspaper. Brush teeth and put hair into knot. 05.50: Walk to train station, bike if short on time. 06.06: Get on train. 06.26: Get off train, walk to bus stop. 06.30: Get on bus. 06.50: Get off bus, walk last bit. 07.00: Work. 09.00: Break. Eat boring-ass toast with orange marmalade. Fall asleep. 09.30: Work. 12.00: Break. Eat boring-ass toast with orange marmalade. Fall asleep. 12.30: Work. 16.10: Walk to bus stop. 16.15: Get on bus. 16.35: Get off bus, walk to train station. 16.42: Get on train. 17.02: Get off train, walk/bike home. 17.15: Walk the dog. Feed the outside fishes. 17.35: Finally get inside the house, shower. 17.55: Feed the cats and the inside fishes, plus put out a bowl of catfood for the resident hedgehogs. 18.00: Scrounge through fridge for something edible. Either end up eating sandwiches or cooking something (and in the latter case, bike to the store and shop first). 19.00: Sit down in front of computer and try to get some stuff done. Fail miserably, and end up zoning out while watching TV instead (some channel played Flesh For Frankenstein and Blood For Dracula back-to-back yesterday, for example). 23.00: Get ready for bed, then fall asleep five seconds after putting head on pillow (hard manual labor = no more insomnia).
Aaaaaand repeat, ad infinitum (or so it feels).
Don't get me wrong though; I'm not complaining. I mean, yeah, I don't really have any free time anymore -- but it's okay. It's nice to have a work, nice to be truly busy for a change. And above all else, it's nice to feel like I am someone. Dropping by the convenience store by work to pick up some milk for my lunch breaks or whatever, I can actually hold my head up high for the first time in years. I'm worn and dirty, but I'm not just a unemployed high school drop-out anymore; I'm actually doing something important. Sure, it's not like people respect me (who would respect the person they call to come fix their toilet, the one who deals with their garbage and picks up the trash they litter in the area?) or anything, but still. I feel good wearing my uniform with my massive keychain (including the master key!) and knife and tools attached to it. Silly, rather pathetic even, I know. Whatever :P
Anyway. Another thing that has kept me away has been the weather. There was some really intense rainstorms a little while back that knocked down telephone phones and flooded everything, making me lose my internet connection to boot. For comparative purposes; there is usually 71mm of rain during the month of July, but during this year, the average amount of rain that fell daily was measured to 77mm. Yeeeah. Believe me, it's not easy mowing grass when the lawn is submerged under water!
Sooo, explanations done, I assure you all I will do my best to catch up ASAP. I have loads and loads of stories to tell from work, and I'm dying to see what everyone on my flist has been up to lately as well. Until then, take care ♡

| Aquarion OVA |
[31 May 2007|06:26am] |
When I first realized that there'd be a Sousei No Aquarion OVA, I was absolutely ecstatic (and add in the fact that I realized it when reading the Aquarion team's second official doujinshi, something that made me quite giddy in and of its own XD). If you've been on my flist for a while, you might remember how obsessed I was about that series when it was airing. Anyways, I patiently waited for them to actually finish the thing and then placed a pre-order for it the second it was made available. It was released in Japan on the 25th this month. It hasn't arrived here yet, but I'm keeping a constant vigil over the mailbox. However, today I stumbled upon a torrent for the OVA. Yeeeah >:\ That kinda fucking pissed me off, to tell the truth. Here I am, dishing out a lot of money to buy it in order to support the series and its creators, and yet people who just illegally download it gets to see it before me. I had looked forward to seeing it so much; to pop it in my DVD player and watching it on my TV, sitting on my couch and squeeing my ass off. But, of course, I couldn't resist downloading the file and watching it immediately (in front of my computer and on my uncomfortable chair).
...I really didn't mean for this to turn into a rant (especially considering that I'm not really against downloading stuff). So, enough about that, and let's move on with my thoughts about the OVA!
( A lot of babbling and screencaps behind the cut; spoilers obviously. )
...Wow, that turned out pretty long, huh? Somehow I'm not surprised ^_^;
Anyways, I still look forward to getting my package. Seeing the OVA in better quality, plus all the extra stuff (I bought the special limited edition, of course). I'm especially excited for the drama CDs even though I won't be able to understand much; one was supposed to be dedicated to the time 12000 years ago, and the other is a hot springs episode XD Also, I desperately hope I'll get the super-limited poster that was included with an undisclosed number of pre-orders:

Gorgeous, isn't it?! I'll be crushed if I don't get it, but I'm not really expecting to either ;_;

| Just some quick drive-by pimping! |
[11 May 2007|02:00pm] |
Currently running some errands in town for my grandma, and dropped by the library to bring you this quick notice:
Today is the last day to submit prompts for springkink! So if you haven't done it already, stop by here and jot down some stuff you'd like to see written or drawn :3
Incase you haven't heard of this community before, allow me to explain it real fast... People submit prompts that the moderator organizes and posts a huge list of, writers and artists then read through it and claim whatever tickles their fancy. Stories and/or art is to be posted throughout the month of July. Prompts should be like this; fandom: pairing - kink (does not have to be sexual!) - "sentence/lyrics/whatever" - a number between 01-30 (the number will determine which day in July your prompt will be due).
So, for example; Final Fantasy VII: Sephiroth/Cloud - mindfuck - "We are not always what we seem, and hardly ever what we dream." - 07 or Spriggan: Jean/Yu - domesticity - "You know, I could get used to this." - 22.
Any and all fandoms are welcome. Submitting promps does not obligate you to claim any, so go right ahead even if you aren't a writer or an artist.
Okay, gotta run now~
